Heading to Paris? Is having a picnic in the park at the Eiffel Tower on your bucket list? Look no further, this blog will help you on how to have the perfect picnic at the Eiffel Tower including where to shop and which park in Paris to go to for a picnic at the Eiffel tower.
Having a picnic at Champ De Mars in front of the Eiffel Tower has been on my bucket list for so long and I finally made it happen and it was the perfect picnic in the perfect weather!
In order to have a picnic, the first thing you’ll need is food! Now, an easy thing to do is to grab sandwiches but you’re in Paris, let’s go shopping for local ingredients at local markets!
Head to Rue Cler, the most famous Street Market located in the 7th Arrondissement.
Here you will find local markets with a selection of specialty food stores including butchers, cheese shops, delicatessens, fruits, pastry and chocolate shops. Please check the hours of the shops to make sure they’re open as some shops/markets are closed on Monday’s.
Head on into each shop, try some samples and gather a variety of ingredients to make the perfect charcuterie board for your picnic in Paris. Picking out a variety of local parisian meats and cheeses for our charcuterie board was such a fun activity to do in Paris. Then it is on to dessert where you can go into different chocolate and pastry shops to find macarons, fresh baked bread and more to complete your charcuterie board for your picnic in Paris. Last stop, French wine! You can find wine in one of the local markets.
It wouldn’t be an instagrammable Parisian picnic without a stop at a local florist. I personally have never bought flowers at a florist before, but let me tell you this was an experience all in itself and we had a beautiful bouquet of flowers for our eiffel tower picnic and for the following days in our hotel room. This beautiful bouquet even made a great prop for additional photos in Paris (if that’s your thing).
Now you’re probably wondering, Ok I have all of the ingredients for my picnic at the Eiffel tower, where am I going to get a picnic blanket, basket, glasses and a Charcuterie board in Paris? Well, I’m an over packer and this was my bucket list so I made sure to pack a picnic blanket and charcuterie board in my suitcase. No need to buy things if you already have everything at home!
Now, if you are buying wine, you’ll want to make sure you bring a wine opener or an easy to open wine bottle. One thing we didn’t have for our picnic was wine glasses, so drinking wine out of the bottle it was (real classy). One of the local markets where we purchased fruit, had a nice reusable bag we purchased which doubled as a nice souvenir.
Once you’ve finished all of your shopping at the Rue Cler local street market, it’s time for your picnic at the Eiffel Tower! Head on over to Champ De Mars park and set up the perfect picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower.
